Sharing something a bit different today! This spring I participated in a fashion photo shoot with several local Arizona designers and business owners. It was just a fun shoot for us all to get together, share our talents, and get some pictures of our products/services. I was honored to be a part of it and I’m so glad to have met all these wonderful, talented, entrepreneurial AZ ladies!

Enjoy a peek into what we put together and be sure to check out all these awesome local businesses!

Aside from both being east coasters, it was Shane’s infectious personality and Jaclyn’s caring nature (and beauty!) that first brought them together. Six years later, they are oh-so-in-love and can now call each other husband and wife. On 5.3.13, Jaclyn and Shane tied the knot at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ. The day was filled with Jaclyn’s beautiful smile, just the right amount of Arizona sun, and such a FUN group of their supporters. They smiled, celebrated, and danced the night away…

WINNER UPDATE: Random.org picked commenter #4: Jen!!

I did something crazy this last month…in a matter of 24 hours, I started a book, finished the book, and watched the movie based on the book. Yes, I liked it :) In fact, I LOVED it! So I didn’t have to put too much thought into my favorite thing for this month. Silver Linings Playbook book and movie!

I have to take breaks from reading, mainly because when I get into a book, I REALLY get into it. Any extra time that I have you will find me snuggled up with my book, I “go to bed early” just to read my book, stay up late with my flashlight reading my book, and it comes everywhere in my purse. Juuuust in case I have a free moment to sneak in a few pages. Well this time I didn’t even have time to do that. I started it on a Saturday night and by the time I went to bed on Sunday evening, I had finished the book and the movie. In that 24 hours, I sniffled, I cried, I laughed out loud, I smiled lots, and then I was just plain depressed when it was done :)

I don’t want to give away too much of the story, but its about a 30 something gentleman from Jersey that gets out of a mental hospital at the beginning of the book. The rest is about his adjustment back in the real world and his quest to find his happy ending (or “silver lining”) amidst his struggles with love, family, and Kenny G. Seriously, Kenny G. Haha! Definitely goes on my favorite book list and I am still sulking a bit about it being over. I should probably just start my next book to move on!

Trisha - I haven’t read the book, but when I rented the movie from redbox, I watched it 3 times in 24 hours before I took it back. I haven’t seen a movie that I loved this much in a very long time!! I would love to read the book and own the movie!! Great giveaway this month! :)

Tabitha Peterson - I love the movie! It was really cute :)

I’ve been so anxious to share pictures with ya’ll of our new, beautiful, bright, updated kitchen! It was a big undertaking, bigger than we expected to be honest, but we are so in LOVE with it and spend lots more time in the kitchen these days. I definitely caught the “remodeling bug” with this project, but I’ll be shifting to more do-it-yourself for a while ;)

So here is everything we changed…

– Painted the walls from red to tan.
– Refinished the cabinets white. We had the oak grain smoothed out with puddy and then the cabinets were painted white.
– Added hidden hinges on all the cabinet doors, new hardware from Home Depot, and bigger crown molding along the top of the cabinets.
– Replaced the white tile counter tops (on the perimeter) with Black Pearl granite.
– Doubled our island size and replaced the white tile with a walnut wood counter. We found the island legs on Ebay and the stools at Newegg.
– White porcelain sink was replaced with a Blanco black granite composite undermount 60/40 sink.
– New stainless Delta touch faucet, RO dispenser, and soap dispenser.
– White plastic outlet covers were replaced with stainless steel covers from Home Depot.
– Added a slate brick backsplash from Monterrey Tile Co. Also added lights under the cabinets from Home Depot to show off the backsplash.

We found and worked with some wonderful local companies…
Stonhenge Marble & Granite completed the cabinet refinish, granite counters, tile backsplash install, and sink install.
Powers Wood Source made and installed our beautiful walnut wood island counter.

So take a look at the final product! taaaa-daaaaa…
