Nicole + Jeff | Scottsdale Engagement Photographer

Nicole and Jeff first met while working together at a restaurant in their homeland of Alberta, Canada. Jeff had a crush on Nicole immediately after meeting, but unfortunately, Nicole was interested in someone else at the time. Jeff accepted this and decided to venture on to live a fun life of traveling around the world. Shortly after, Nicole also had the urge to travel, so she set about to see the world! Upon her return, Nicole logged on to Facebook one day to notice how gooood Jeff looked – her words :) – and how it seemed by his photos that he had been traveling to all the same places as her…in front of the Eiffel Tower, the Coliseum, even overlooking the same viewpoint in Thailand. She thought this was a perfect opportunity for her to break the ice, and went on to send him a message. They arranged to get together to talk about their travels, and the rest as they say… is history!!

Nicole and Jeff are currently planning their destination wedding here in Arizona at the Arizona Grand Resort. They are such a sweet couple and I am thrilled to be helping them with their day. We met up this week for their engagement session and I just couldn’t wait to share some of my faves!

Enjoy and Happy Friday :)

Mimi’s Favorite Things | May 2012

May marks the anniversary of Seth and I’s first date 7 years ago, buying our home together 5 years ago, our engagement 4 years ago, and then our wedding 3 years ago on May 30th. Wheeew! Needless to say, May is a special month for us. So this time around to highlight one of my favorite things, I thought I would share one of our favorite date nights…burritos and ice cream :) Odd combo, NOT AT ALL! We first start out with a little Chipotle (mmmmmm…burritos, quesadilla, guacamole) and then finish it up with some delicious Cold Stone Creamery (Peanut Butter Cup Perfection please!) I don’t think anyone can argue with the amazingness of this duo.

The winner will get to take their date out for a burrito and ice cream night too! And here is what you gotta do to enter…

When: You can enter now through Sunday, May 20th. The winner will be announced and contacted on Monday!
Who: Anyone and everyone that loooves Emily Snitzer Photography :) and lives in the continental US with a valid postal address

I hope you get a fancy anniversary dinner! 7 years should get a little more than a burrito! You can keep the ice cream though! :)

Happy Anniversary to you guys! I couldn’t agree with you guys more with your choice for a date night! :)

Midweek Randomness, take 20

The last two Sundays, the hubby and I have gone out on the lake for the afternoon on his fishing boat. Since he got the boat last spring, I had only been on it once with him, mostly because he went out when I was shooting weddings and working on the weekends. But now after these two recent trips, I have really come to enjoy it (the views, the relaxing, the trying to fish) and this Sunday tradition may just have to continue. On our first trip out, I surprised myself and actually caught a fish. I could have sworn by its size and the difficulty reeling it in that it was a 10 lb bass, but again to my surprise, it was only 1 lb. Still I really wanted to proudly hold it and take a picture to load up to my Facebook (why else would you take a phone picture?), but after several minutes of me squealing and jumping, Seth had to return the poor little guy to the water before he was a goner. Next time, I WILL hold my fish!

Seth had to show me up on both trips by first catching a 3 lb bass and then on the 2nd trip catching a 4.5 lb bass. He held them too! :)

So in addition to “holding my own catch”, I have a couple other goals for our lake trips…

1) don’t be the only dork on the lake wearing your life jacket whenever the boat moves (safety first, right?)
2) get into the lake water – not sure this will ever happen, but hey, I’ll list it for good measure
3) learn to reverse the truck WITH the boat trailer on it – this comes after a weeee bit of an anxiety attack when I was left with the responsibility of parking the truck and trailer by myself

Ooook, enough fish talk for this girl!

Movie of the week: We Bought a Zoo. Oh my goodness, this was such a cute movie! I had forgotten who was in it and what the movie was about by the time it arrived from Netflix (I had to wait several weeks since Mr. Snitzer controls the Netflix account). Based on the cartoon previews before the movie started, Seth thought for sure that I had picked a Disney movie and was immediately moaning. But it wasn’t a cartoon! It stars Matt Damon (cmon, any movie with Matt Damon is a “guy movie”, right?) and Scarlett Johansson and I would consider it a feel good, family movie :) P.S. Seth ended up enjoying it too

Song of the week: LOVED this rendition of Damien Rice’s Volcano that Phillip Phillips performed on American Idol. Swoooon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IRvCpYXrrs

Happy Wednesday!!

Amanda + Joe | Trash the Dress Wedding Photographer

And here comes part 2 to Amanda and Joe’s amazing Mexico nuptials…the day after beach session, aka trash the dress! If you missed their first post, go ahead and check out their beautiful wedding day here.

If you haven’t heard of a “trash the dress” session, this is where I meet up again with the bride and groom after the wedding day to get some more…let’s say, adventurous pictures :) We don’t have the time constraint of the wedding day and we no longer have to worry about keeping the dress perfectly neat. Amanda and Joe were up for anything, so of course this session involved water…lots of ocean water!

It was such a gorgeous evening on the beach and the two newlyweds looked just as amazing as their wedding day. I am so thrilled with how the session turned out and now it’s your turn to go see! Enjoy!!

You do such amazing work! Great stuff!

Rachel + Mark | Phoenix Engagement Photographer

Their love story began two years ago at In-N-Out burger manning the cash registers together over holiday break. They worked together, got stuck mopping together, and eventually went to a movie together. Rachel clarified to Mark that it was only a movie as friends, so they went and after the movie they talked and talked…until the wee hours of the morning. Shortly after, Rachel left to travel abroad for her church. Mark promised to write, and write they did! They wrote back and forth for 6 months while she was away. And when she returned, it was no longer movie dates as “just friends” :)

They laughed, smiled, kissed, and were just so darn sweet at their engagement session…it was SO easy to capture their true love and happiness to be together :) And what better location for their session then In-N-Out :) They will be tying the knot this fall at the North Ridge Community Church and I am so excited to be capturing this time for them.

Take a peek into some of my favorites. Happy Monday!

♥ Emily
